Falanghina WINES

Falanghina is a very ancient vine, native to the slopes of the Taburno and some areas of Campi Flegrei but for decades the production performed in Sant'Agata de'Goti is also famous.Falanghina is a type of grape which is used to produce an extremely fine white wine. Falanghina can be mostly found in the Italian region of Campania, at the north of the gorgeous city of Naples, where it grows very close to the coast because the weather conditions in the area allow it to grow in all its splendor.  (continue)

Falanghina WINE

Falanghina is a type of grape which is used to produce an extremely fine white wine. Falanghina can be mostly found in the Italian region of Campania, at the north of the gorgeous city of Naples, where it grows very close to the coast because the weather conditions in the area allow it to grow in all its splendor. Probably because Falanghina can mostly be found in Campania, the wine that is made out of this type of grape is mostly consumed in the south of Italy, most of the time together with seafood. The wine made out of Falanghina is known as Falernian wine, while the grape is also known as Biancazita, Biancozita, Biancuzita or Falanchina.

Vine and wine-making

The best vines of Falanghina grow in the porous volcanic soils close to Mount Vesuvius, the popular volcano in the city of Naples, and the warm Mediterranean climate. When it comes to the wine-making process of the Falanghina grape, the grape juice is fermented for about two weeks at about 25ºC before the wine is transported and divided into various tanks for a while to then be put back into the original tank. This process helps the wine to be oxygenated and it is left to age for about one year.

Organoleptic properties

Although there are many different wines made out of Falanghina grapes, most of them have some common features, especially their organoleptic properties. When it comes to the color, most of the Falanghina wines are yellow with some green reflexes. The aroma of the Falanghina wines tends to be extremely pleasant yet very intense and characteristic. And the taste could be described as harmonic and it has a delicious aftertaste of dried fruits.

Serving suggestions

The most incredible way to enjoy a bottle of wine is by pairing it with some delicious food. But just any type of delicious food won't work with wines made out of Falanghina grapes. In fact, there are some particular foods that will allow you to appreciate a good glass of Falanghina wine as much as you should and that is mostly seafood as well as seasoned cheeses and dishes which include white meats such as chicken.
