Bolgheri DOC WINE

Bolgheri is one of the best vineyards. Bolgheri is known for its production of grapes that are used in making some of the finest wines in the world. Bolgheri is also an area in the coastal Maremma region. The vines are grown on hilly vineyards with clay soil, an optimum condition of cultivating the grapes. The wine made comes from a selection of the best grapes. The selected grapes undergo a very delicate treatment where they remain in contact with their skins for a long time.

Wine making process

The grapes are harvested by hand in the first two weeks of September. The harvest process continues until the middle of October. By then, the grapes are of different ripeness, and they are separated in agreement with their maturity, as such separating the wines made from the grapes. The grapes, after harvesting, undergo a manual selection process and are cleaned. The grapes are then placed in stainless steel containers for the purpose of undergoing fermentation, a process that takes place at controlled temperatures of approximately 28-30 degrees. The wine remains together with the skins during the fermentation process. The fermentation process takes about 25-30 days. The wine from there goes into barriques with new wood at 20-30%. Afterward, the wine is stored in oak casts for about 18 months a procedure that allows for malolactic fermentation o take place. The Bolgheri wine is then bottled and allowed to age for another eight months. The alcohol content at this point is 14%.

Tasting and serving

The Bolgheri wine has a deep red color. The scent of the wine is that of ripe berries and spices. The tannin is velvety to the tongue, and it has a fresh acidity feeling. There is a long lingering aftertaste after consuming the Bolgheri wine. The wine is best served at a temperature of 16 degrees.

The Bolgheri wine is ideal for meals with strong flavors such as meat, game, poultry and strong flavored cheeses among others.
